Emily Reay
I am a wine professional with over eight years of experience, with an absolute love of music, mountains and wind-powered boats.
My career
My love of wine started quite young - having been born in France and spending childhood holidays visiting wine regions, it was slightly embedded from the get go.
I chose my undergraduate degree in French and Mandarin with the view of going into the wine trade and, while on my year abroad in Paris, completed the WSET level 2 course.
Fast forward to graduation and I was lucky to join UK wine agent Hatch Mansfield in their Brand Management team, where I stayed for seven years.
As a Brand Manager I worked with brands of all sizes and across all channels. The role involved developing successful channel strategies, building comprehensive brand and marketing plans, delivering effective PR campaigns, ensuring pricing models were strategic and, alongside all this, organising impactful (and often iconic) events to support the brands we worked on. In short, my job was to make sure brands achieved all their objectives in the UK, from commercial to brand awareness.
The brands I worked with included Louis Jadot, Villa Maria, Joseph Mellot, Errazuriz, and CVNE. My most recent four years at Hatch Mansfield involved managing the prestigious Champagne Taittinger and working on the successful launch of Domaine Evremond, a new English Sparkling Wine.
Today, I work as a freelance wine specialist (Reay Vins), using my experience to help brands develop their presence in the UK through brand management, tastings, events and more. Alongside this, I spend my time working with humanitarian NGOs and studying for my MSc in Humanitarianism, Aid & Conflict.
Technical knowledge & adaptable approach
Holding the WSET Diploma in Wine and having been lucky enough to travel to a number of wonderful wine regions, I have a strong technical understanding of wine that underpins my work. This knowledge, combined with my passion for storytelling and my firm understanding of the ever-moving commercial backdrop to the industry, allows me to adapt my approach to any audience – from seasoned trade professionals to enthusiastic consumers.
I bring practicality and creativity to my approach to make sure goals are achieved in a way that reflects the essence of you and your brand.
My aim is for you to think of me as an extension to your business. For any project or event, I will take the time to make sure I represent you and your ethos, working closely with your team to be as effective as possible and deliver the results you are looking for.
